Welcome! I started Matcha & Ink as to way to merge my two passions, health & surface design. I worked in the health & nutrition industry for many years before deciding in 2013 that I wanted to pursue my creative dreams. I studied graphic design & illustration with the goal of becoming a textile designer.
Unique illustrations and pattern designs printed onto ethical activewear, homewares & accessories.
I am a graphic designer, illustrator, qualified naturopath & nutritionist who decided being creative was what I really loved to do. I live in Melbourne, Australia, and work from home while parenting my human and furry children.
Why Matcha & Ink?
The sustainable yoga wear idea came about when I was frustrated by the selection of active wear in my wardrobe. Black is a great colour, but it gets a bit boring when you wear black yoga leggings to the gym or yoga class day in, day out. I am a print lover but could never find an active wear print design I loved.
I had been selling my textile designs online via print on demand sites since 2013. These sites don’t give the artists much choice about the quality or cut of the products their designs are printed on. I wanted to have more of a say about the manufacturing process and cut of my designs. I wanted my designs printed on products that were made ethically and as sustainably as possible. I spent a lot of time searching for the right manufacturer and ironing out the manufacturing and shipping process before I opened my Etsy store in March 2017. Having now set Etsy up I have created this website to run alongside my Etsy store.
In the future I hope to expand the yoga wear range to include yoga mats and other yoga accessories. I have also added throw pillows to my store because they are pretty & I can’t help myself, I am a designer who loves prints & nice things.
For those of you who dont know Matcha is powdered green tea leaves. It is healthier than normal green tea because you consume the whole leaf, not just the water soluble part of the leaf. I gave up drinking coffee in 2016 (again) and have succesfully replaced my coffee addiction with a matcha latte addiction.
I am always happy to hear from you via the contact form or email email@example.com.
I hope you enjoy my creations.
